CLARKS GREEN — Following its Spring Choral Concert, Abington Christian Academy featured over 130 artworks in an end-of-year Student Art Exhibit.
Watercolor, acrylic, tempura, collage, batik, pen and ink, paper art, chalk art, sculpture – all were on display as students, staff, and guests lingered to catch a glimpse of exemplary work created during the 2015-2016 school year. Art teacher and exhibit curator Annette Brush assembled pieces that represented handiwork from students in Pre-K through 10th grade.
Among the paintings were pieces by academy sophomore Elizabeth Treat, who received Honorable Mention for her acrylic painting, “La Jirafa,” in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Art Competition (Northeastern Pennsylvania Region) that was hosted by Marywood University. Treat’s paintings were also shown in the Green Ridge Om and Wellness Center during the May 6 Scranton First Friday art exhibits.
Also featured was work from kindergarten student Timothy Naylor, the 2015 recipient of the academy’s MAIA Art Scholarship.
