Chester Polk
   
May 13, 2003
    Chester Polk of Hamilton Va., died Tuesday at home.
   
Born May 15, 1925, in Swoyersville, he was a son of Walter S. and Anna Z.
Pokrzywnicki. He attended Swoyersville schools and graduated from Philadelphia
High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a pre-med
student at Temple University and worked in the laboratories of Gulf Oil Co.,
Philadelphia and Aramco Oil Co., Saudi Arabia. He also worked for Ford Motor
Company assembly plant, New Jersey and the U.S. Postal Service, Washington
D.C. He was an avid sportsman and played semi-pro baseball.
   
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Edward, Thadeus, Frank,
Walter, Leo, Joseph, Benjamin; and sister, Helen.
   
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Eileen Smiley; sister, Jean
Bianco, Las Vegas; Charlotte Pomicter, Buena Park, Calif.; Ann Evans, Cypress,
Calif.; brothers, Stanley, Mountain Top; and Aloysius, Long Beach, Calif.
   
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Church of the Nazarene,
Leesburg, Va.
   
Arrangements are by the Halls Funeral Home, Purcellville, Va.
