Some students at Marywood University will be doing without the comforts of home or the residence halls, as they sleep outdoors on Thursday, Nov. 8. It’s all part of setting aside time to help others during Marywood University’s Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, November 4 to 10. The week, coordinated by Campus Ministry, will include students, staff and faculty participating in several different service projects in celebration of IHM Founders’ Week. In conjunction with the community service projects, Marywood University students will be focusing on hunger, homelessness and other social justice awareness issues.
Locally, volunteers will be participating in activities associated with the St. Francis Soup Kitchen, Hunger Walk, Christmas Giving Tree, Ugly Quilts, and Sleep Out for the Homeless. For more information on the Marywood University service projects or the complete list of activities for the university-wide Week of Service, contact Marywood University’s Campus Ministry at 570-961-4723.
