Nichold Granteed of Troop 366 of West Wyoming earned his Eagle Scout Award, the highest advancement award offered by the Boy Scouts of America, on Sept. 17, 2014.

WEST WYOMING — Nicolas Granteed, 18, of West Wyoming, has earned the highest achievement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to scouts, the Eagle Scout Award. He earned the award on Sept. 17, 2014 and his accomplishment was celebrated on March 31 earlier this year. He is a member of Troop 366 of West Wyoming.

Granteed has served as an Assistant Patrol Leader, Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Scribe, Troop Guide, Bugler and Instructor. He also earned his Light of Christ Religious Award.

For his Eagle Service project, Granteed remodeled a room in the West Wyoming Hose Co. No. 1. This room was not updated since 1986, when the building was first constructed. The room is used for meetings, training and to relax between calls. Granteed remodeled the room by spackling and painting the walls and ceiling, removing the old carpet and installing a laminate floor, painting the doors and cleaning the trophy case with the help of his fellow troop members, troop leader and family members.

Granteed is a member of St. Monica’s Church in West Wyoming, a senior at Wyoming Area School and is active in concert band, trumpeting in his church choir and is a volunteer for the West Wyomuing Hose Co. No. 1 as well as the West Wyoming County Ambulance Association.

Granteed is the son of Matthew and Jeanie Granteed of West Wyoming, has a sister Jessica and two brothers, Matthew and David. He is the grandson of George Chronowski and the late Barbara Chronowski, and the late Joseph and Mary Granteed.

He plans on going to college after graduation.
