HERSHEY – Wyoming Valley West’s Kyle Krasavage was hit with his first loss if the season Saturday morning dropping a 7-3 decision to two-time champion and three-time state finalist Connor Schram from Canon-McMillan in the semifinals of the PIAA Class 3A Championships.

Brad Emerick, Krasavage’s friend from Coughlin, also lost his semi Saturday morning, losing to Andrew Welton from Central Tech, 3-0.

Krasavage, a 126-pounder, couldn’t get anything going in the loss trailing 5-0 in the second period before getting an escape. He also got an escape point in the third period to go along with a point for a stalling called on Schram. The Spartan can still get as high as a third place medal.

Emerick, at 285 pounds, had similar fate in his semi. After a scoreless first period, Emerick chose bottom to start the second and couldn’t escape. When Welton chose the position in the third, he did get the escape and also received two points for a late takedown.

Both rebounded from tough losses to win their consolation matches and will now wrestle for a third-place medal. Krasavage won 4-2 and Emerick was a 3-2 winner.

Matt Hammerstone, Crestwood’s 145-pounder, lost his third-round consolation bout 7-0 to Adam Smith from Manheim Township to drop to the seventh-place match. He will face Mason Bentzel from Spring Grove for the seventh-place medal.

The medal round and the finals begin at 7 p.m.
