EDWARDSVILLE — Borough police are investigating a stabbing during a street fight Monday night.

Acting police Chief Hal Bond said one female was transported to a local hospital after she was stabbed during a fight near the intersection of Center and Williams streets.

Bond said little else was confirmed as of shortly after 10 p.m., and he was headed to the hospital to interview the victim. Police were searching the area for a weapon.

The incident was reported to Luzerne County 911 at about 9:15 p.m., a 911 supervisor said.

A neighbor, who declined to provide her name, said she saw a silver car following two females who were walking north on Center Street, and female occupants of the vehicle got out near Williams Street and began fighting with the other two females.

The witness said the females in the car got back into the vehicle and fled before police arrived.

Police seemed to focus their investigation and search on the street and on double-block home on Williams Street. The address of the home could not be verified, as crime scene tape prevented access.
