HANOVER TWP. — A road worker was taken to a hospital Tuesday after a dump truck ran over his legs and pinned him in a construction zone on Tuesday.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 4 Press Officer James May said a dump truck ran over the legs of a PennDOT employee, who was taken to a hospital with what appear to be non life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred in a construction zone along state Route 29, near the Sugar Notch Exit, in Hanover Township. Luzerne County 911 received the report at 2:14 p.m.

Hanover Township police and fire departments responded along with Nanticoke and Ashley fire departments and Medic 9.

Falzone Towing used a crane to lift the vehicle off the man, according to a firefighter who referred a reporter to police for additional information.

May said no further information was immediately available. Township police said state police are handling the investigation. A state police dispatcher said no information was immediately available Tuesday evening.
