WYALUSING TWP. — A fatal crash that occurred along Route 706 in Wyalusing Township at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, left two teens dead and three other individuals injured.

Colin Michael Flynn, 18, of Towanda, and Brendan Tyler Hall, 18, of Wyalusing, were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which occurred roughly a half-mile east of the Route 706 intersection with Route 409 in Camptown.

Troy Aaron Stone, 19, Wyalusing, reportedly crossed over the centerline in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup while headed eastbound, trying to pass another vehicle.

Stone’s vehicle slammed head-on into a 2004 Subaru Outback, driven by Staci Lynn Short, 33, Wyalusing. Short’s station wagon spun clockwise into the eastbound lane while Stone’s truck left the north shoulder of the roadway and struck several trees before coming to a final rest down an embankment.

Stone was traveling with three passengers, including Hall, Flynn and Kara Jean Johnson, 20, of Towanda.

Johnson, Stone, and Short were transported to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment from injuries suffered in the crash. Johnson and Stone were taken via helicopter.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Stone was speeding and had consumed alcoholic beverages, deemed to be contributing factors to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

Assisting at the incident were the Wyalusing Fire and Rescue Unit, Wysox Fire Company and HOPS Ambulance.
