WILKES-BARRE — Former Coughlin teacher and administrator Stephen Stahl is seeking parole, court papers indicate.

Prosecutors filed a motion Tuesday in Luzerne County Court requesting Judge Michael T. Vough schedule a hearing on a parole petition Stahl filed on Aug. 24.

Vough sentenced Stahl, 48, of Hunlock Creek, in March to serve six to 23 months in Luzerne County Correctional Facility on a corruption of minors charge. He should reach his minimum later this month.

A jury convicted Stahl in January, siding with a woman who alleged she and Stahl had a sexual relationship nearly 10 years earlier when she was a 16-year-old student at Coughlin High School. He was a teacher and wrestling coach at the time of the relationship.

Investigators last week charged retired Coughlin principal Frank J. Michaels in connection with his testimony at Stahl’s trial, alleging the current Forty Fort borough councilman lied on the witness stand.
