WILKES-BARRE — A city man will spend at least a decade behind bars on child pornography charges.

John Dennis Luchi, 60, of Northampton Street, was sentenced Friday in Luzerne County Court to spend 10 to 20 years in state prison followed by six years probation on 22 charges related to the possession and distribution of child pornography, according to court papers.

Judge David W. Lupas imposed the sentence and gave the man credit for 130 days served, court papers say. Luchi is to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He is to have no access to computers or the internet.

According to a criminal complaint, investigators between August and September 2012 downloaded several graphic video clips of child pornography from an internet user later identified as Luchi. A search of Luchi’s house turned up several more files on various electronic storage devices.

Luchi allegedly told police, “if people weren’t making it, then people couldn’t watch it,” the complaint says.
