HANOVER TWP. — Police in Hanover Township are investigating an assault that resulted in the stabbing of a man out for a walk early Saturday morning.

According to police, Prescott Gensel, 26, was assaulted by three unidentified males on Hazle and Newport streets after he went for a walk at approximately 2:30 a.m. Gensel was stabbed three times on his left side and twice in his thigh, police said.

Gensel was taken to General Hospital and transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

Anyone with information on the assault is asked to contact Hanover Township Police at 570-825-1254.
