WILKES-BARRE — A Texas gang member flagged as “dangerous” was charged Friday with public drunkenness and providing a false ID to law enforcement after officers observed him stumbling at Coal Street Park.

Leo Cardenas, 33, told Wilkes-Barre police he was Santiago Cardona after officers witnessed him struggling to walk and asked if he needed assistance. A fingerprint verification confirmed his identity as Cardenas with a warning that he was a dangerous Texas gang member, according to police.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was made aware of the incident and will be contacting Cardenas, who is being jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
