Target Corp. will close 13 stores nationwide at the end of January.

In an email, Target spokeswoman Molly Snyder said the decision to close the stores “is not made lightly.” She said the company typically closes locations after seeing several years of decreasing profitability.

Snyder said all eligible Target store employees affected by the shutdowns will be offered the option to transfer to another store.

Austin North East in Austin, Texas

Suncoast Pasco County in Odessa, Fla.

Casa Grande, Ariz.

Victorville, Calif.

East Flint in Flint, Mich.

Columbus Southwest in Columbus, Ohio

Northridge in Milwaukee

Superior, Wis.

Springfield, Ohio

New Ulm, Minn.

Ottumwa, Iowa

Anderson, Ind.

Dixie Highway in Louisville, Ky.
