HARVEYS LAKE — The new borough police station received a Certificate of Occupancy Monday pending completion of a post construction punch list, said Bill Hilburt, a borough council member.

Hilburt, along with Harveys Lake Borough Council member Michel’e Boice, the contractor from Cornerstone Building Solutions Inc., the construction company and third party building code officer Rick Harmon, of Barry Isett & Associates Inc., did a final walk through of the new police station Monday.

Harmon issued a temporary Certificate of Occupancy pending the completion of several code violations that include changing exterior emergency lighting from a one-lightbulb unit to a two-lightbulb unit, adjusting a countertop height to meet the American Disabilities Act requirement and making exterior doors on the side as exit-only doors, Hilburt said.

“The doors on the side would be for police use only,” he said. “The doors will open from the inside only.”

Boice added some additional signage is needed.

“There were no big issues,” Boice said.

The borough has 30 days from Feb. 29 to complete the list, according to the permit.

Construction started for the $233,700 pre-fabricated police station in October 205. The borough had acquired a $78,220 state gaming grant to defray the cost of the building.

Boice and Hilburt said the new police station will maintain a strong police presence on Route 415 at the main entrance to the lake. The building will offer the three full-time and five part-time police officers added protection, including bulletproof glass in an entry way.
