WEST PITTSTON — A woman charged with hindering the apprehension of an alleged armed robber is wanted on charges she swiped a purse from inside a vehicle last month.

West Pittston police on Monday announced they are seeking the whereabouts of Tracyann Franklin, a suspect in a March 9 theft that occurred near the Montgomery Avenue Elementary School in West Pittston, they allege.

Franklin, 34, of 1367 Penn Ave., Scranton, was charged in January with hindering the apprehension of accused serial robber Joseph Lombardo. Police said she and Lombardo’s brother, Vincent Lombardo, drove the 39-year-old to East Stroudsburg and dropped him off, later denying to police any knowledge of his location.

She posted $10,000 bail on Jan. 28, court records show.

After leading police on a high-speed chase, Lombardo on Jan. 26 was arrested and charged for his alleged role in a string of at least four armed robberies carried out in Pittston, Avoca and Hanover Township. In one heist, Lombardo allegedly brandished a handgun and struck a cashier. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Thursday in county court.

Those with information or tips on Franklin’s whereabouts are asked to dial 911 or contact the West Pittston Police Department at 570-655-7780.
