SCRANTON — Hillary Clinton will campaign in Northeastern Pennsylvania next Friday and she will be accompanied by Scranton’s native son, Vice President Joe Biden.

The announcement was made Thursday by the Clinton campaign.

The emailed release said Clinton and Biden will visit the Scranton area for a Pennsylvania Democratic Party event, to discuss “their shared commitment to building an America that is stronger together and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top.”

Additional details about the trip will be announced soon, the release stated.

Clinton last visited the region on April 22 when she spoke at Dunmore High School. Biden attended the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick dinner in 2015.

Clinton is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president and is expected to be opposed by Republican Donald Trump. Pennsylvania is seen as a key state in deciding the 2016 election.
