WILKES-BARRE — At least one man was arrested Friday on North Washington Street after what appeared to be a scuffle with local police and state conservation personnel.
Police were dispatched to the 300 block of North Washington shortly before 1:30 p.m., after receiving emergency broadcasts of an officer calling for backup. Officers at the scene were seen loading a handcuffed man into an ambulance. Christine Cregg, 32, of Wilkes-Barre, identified the man as her brother, John Cregg.
A Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission waterways conservation officer helped police load John Cregg into a waiting ambulance, and Christine Cregg said John had been visiting with her 14-year-old son, who likes collecting turtles. It was not immediately clear what connection the turtles had to Cregg’s arrest.
Christine said that John has a warrant for his arrest outside of Luzerne County. Local charges had yet to be filed as of deadline Friday.
