WILKES-BARRE TWP. — An Edwardsville man was robbed at gunpoint of three smartphones valued at $900 in the Wyoming Valley Mall parking lot near the Sears store Sunday night.

According to a police report:

At approximately 9:37 p.m., Galen Marvi Waltman III, of Edwardsville, reported having three smartphones taken from him at gunpoint by a 5-foot-8-inch black man weighing about 280 pounds and wearing a gray long sleeve shirt and gray sweatpants.

Waltman arranged to meet an unidentified buyer in response to an ad he posted on Craigslist for the phones.

Waltman told police he saw the man flee the area and get in the front seat of a blue Jeep Liberty driven by a Hispanic woman. Waltman said the Jeep turned right at the traffic light by Sonic onto Kidder Street going northbound. When he attempted to follow the car, Waltman saw it enter the Citgo gas station parking lot at the corner of Kidder Street and Mundy Street and then exit the parking lot, turning right onto Mundy Street heading toward Lowe’s.
