WILKES-BARRE — Police arrested a city man Sunday night after he drunkenly hit a woman who refused to let him drive.

Police said at approximately 9:38 p.m. on Poplar Street, Thomas Robinson, 49, struck a 49-year-old woman after she refused to give him the keys to her vehicle as he was intoxicated. The woman eventually gave Robinson the keys after he hit her several times, according to police. Police said when officers arrived, they observed the two in a verbal dispute, Robinson highly intoxicated and signs of recent minor injury on the woman.

Robinson was charged with simple assault, harrassment and public drunkenness.
