PITTSTON — Two phases of the City Hall renovations are complete, and council members are preparing to enter into the third and final phase.

At its monthly meeting Wednesday, the council authorized the appropriate city officials to execute an agreement with Quad 3 Group, of Wilkes-Barre, for architecture and engineering design services at a cost of $99,000.

The third phase of the renovation project will address exterior and interior needs such as painting, carpeting, structural repairs to the entrance hall and cleaning the front of the building, according to City Administrator Joe Moskovitz.

The final phase of the project, Moskovitz added, also involves moving the police station and a conference room into the basement. What was the first floor conference room will become the mayor’s office.

The first phase of the renovations was completed in April. It addressed elevator and electrical issues. The second phase was completed in September. It included the installation of heating, air conditioning and lighting.

The first two phases cost a total $1.8 million. Mozkovitz says the final phase should cost around $1.2 million.

He said council members went into this project looking to not exceed $3 million worth of renovations.

“We had said it was going to be a $3 million project. … And we’ve got to keep to that number,” said Moskovitz.
