PITTSTON — City Administrator Joe Mozkovitz provided an update on the status of the Christopher Columbus statue at the regular council meeting Wednesday.
He said the statue is still being inspected and repaired by Pesavento Monuments in Scranton and that the damage isn’t as bad as feared.
“Other than some minor scuffs and bruises, the monument is in remarkably good condition,” said Moskovitz.
He continued by saying the plan is to redo the landscape area in which the statue was located to make is safer and resurrect the statue in the early spring, most likely in April.
The statue was damaged in a car accident last December.
