Thunderstorms are in the forecast for the Wyoming Valley this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Wyoming Valley.

According to the NWS, thunderstorms are possible for Saturday afternoon, and may produce gusty winds and locally heavy rain, damaging winds this afternoon.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 61 degrees as of 7:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and partly cloudy skies were reported.

Showers are likely this afternoon, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. Temperature will rise to near 65 by 11 a.m., and then to around 49 during the rest of the day. Wind gusts of up to 29 mph possible during storms Saturday afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent, and rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Scattered showers will continue tonight before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of snow showers after 5 a.m. Mostly cloudy with a low around 28. Wind gusts as high as 30 mph possible.

Chance of snow before 9 a.m. Sunday. It will be partly sunny with a high near 36.

Clouds will move in Sunday night, with a low around 29.

It will warm up slightly Monday with partly sunny skies and a high near 49.

Chance of showers Monday night, with a low around 36.
