Warmer weather and rainfall could cause some minor flooding in the Wyoming Valley this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the week, warning the higher temperatures will cause the existing snow from Winter Storm Stella to melt. The melting snow will also be accompanied by periods of rain. Runoff into area rivers and streams may be enough to create the potential for minor flooding from Sunday through Wednesday.

The forecast

The NWS indicated it was 38 degrees as of 8:54 a.m. at the at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and overcast skies were reported.

Today there will be some patchy drizzle before 10 a.m. It will be cloudy, with a high near 43.

Tonight some more patchy drizzle before midnight, then a chance of rain after midnight midnight. Low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Monday will bring more rain before 2 p.m., then scattered showers between 2 and 5 p.m. High near 58. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

Monday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 50.

Tuesday there is a chance for scattered showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
