BEAR CREEK TWP. — A family has been displaced after a fire damaged their Meadow Run Road home on Saturday.
Crews from several area fire departments battled the blaze that broke out Saturday morning.
Fire crews from Bear Creek Township, Kingston, Thornhurst and Laflin responded to the scene, as well as Plains Ambulance.
Officials with Luzerne County 911 said the call for the fire came in around 9:45 a.m.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Bear Creek Township Fire Chief John Krumsky said the family made it out safe as well as most of the family’s pets, except for two snakes that were in an aquarium.
Crews were able to get the fire under control, but the house sustained serious damage, with much of the inside burned. However, Krumsky said they were able to get the water needed on scene without much trouble.
“It’s always a struggle in rural areas with water,” he said.
Krumsky said the family and pets would be staying with relatives, and that “Everything worked out in our favor,” he said.
