JENKINS TWP. — Approximately 65 jobs will be moving out of the township as Ace Hardware closes its Emery-Waterhouse distribution center.

The hardware store chain is building a new 1.1 million-square-foot distribution center in Fredericksburg that will serve Ace Hardware retail stores throughout Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

“Interested employees in certain roles at the center” will be offered relocation opportunities at the new facility and the recently expanded retail support center in Wilton, N.Y., according to a company spokesman.

According to a press release, “following a rigorous analysis of the company’s overall distribution network, including its wholesale division, the company has decided to consolidate its distribution efforts to ultimately strengthen the overall retail support network.”

The release says that the changes will be made over the next 24 months.

Also closing will be a retail support center in Prince George, Va., a small crossdock in the Baltimore area, and the Emery-Waterhouse operations in Portland, Maine.
