WILKES-BARRE — A man celebrating his birthday allegedly sunk his teeth into a police officer after he was arrested for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, city police say.

Anthony Dupak, of Scott Street, allegedly shouted and cursed at officers responding to a noise complaint at his residence Saturday, which records indicate was Dupak’s 27th birthday. He was arrested after ignoring warnings to stop his behavior and for throwing a beer can toward an officer, according to Wilkes-Barre police.

Dupak was taken to police headquarters where he continued to battle with officers, one of whom he bit in the leg, police say.

Dupak was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated harassment by prisoner, making terroristic threats, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He remained jailed Thursday at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 1.
