AVOCA — Two men who robbed a borough bank at gunpoint Wednesday were arrested less than 24 hours later, according to police.

Douglas A. Sicker Jr., 36, of Hanover Township, and Shawn James Cavanaugh, 35, of Wilkes-Barre, were captured early Thursday, police said in an email.

According to officers:

Sicker and Cavanaugh held up the PNC Bank at 650 Main St. about 4 p.m. Wednesday. The two men showed handguns and demanded money from tellers before escaping with an undisclosed sum.

After the robbery, the men fled on foot and entered a Chevrolet on Cherry Street.

The suspects were caught by Kingston police after officers initiated a traffic stop, “knowing that a passenger was a wanted person by state parole.”

Sicker and Cavanaugh are awaiting an appearance in federal court.
