WILKES-BARRE — The drowning of a 3-year-old boy in Plains Township was ruled accidental, authorities said Thursday.

The Luzerne County Coroner’s office identified the child as Nico Bostick.

First responders were dispatched to a residence at 43 Perkins St. for a reported drowning of a 3-year-old boy at approximately 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. The boy was taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police later returned to the house. The pool is located behind a fence in the yard.

Coroner Bill Lisman on Wednesday declined to release the age and gender of the child and said further information and a determination on the manner of death would be released after an investigation by his office, Plains Township police and the Luzerne County District Attorney.

According to a statement from Lisman’s office after the investigation was finished Thursday, “The death was ruled an accidental drowning.”
