WILKES-BARRE — A 7-year-old boy who died after falling into the rushing waters of a city creek Tuesday has been identified as Benjamin Paisley of Wilkes-Barre.

The Luzerne County Coroner’s Office identified the child Wednesday, a day after he slipped into Mill Creek near Dillon Street Park while playing with his brother. The death was ruled accidental, the office said.

Paisley was removed from the water just after 1:30 p.m. and CPR was administered. He was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township where he was pronounced dead.

The drowning was the second in less than a week involving a child, notable tragedies for Luzerne County Coroner Bill Lisman because of the age of the victims and the short time between the deaths.

Three-year-old Nico Bostick drowned in a swimming pool at his residence in Plains Township on July 19. His death was ruled accidental as well.

“In my 40 years with the coroner’s office, I can’t ever remember having two kids a week apart,” Lisman told the Times Leader on Tuesday.
