WILKES-BARRE — The Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office is seeking to revoke the bail of an accused convenience store robber.

Joshua Pierce, 29, of Ashley, was arrested in August after police say he admitted to robbing the Turkey Hill on Hazle Street in Wilkes-Barre. The DA’s filing states that Pierce said he used the money from the robbery to buy heroin.

He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail on the condition that he reports to the Day Reporting Center and complies with the program, according to the filing by District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis and Assistant District Attorney Mary G. Phillips.

But prosecutors allege Pierce has failed to comply with his bail conditions and they have “serious concerns” for the safety of the community.

Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky has scheduled a bail revocation hearing for Pierce at 9 a.m. Oct. 2.
