WILKES-BARRE — King’s College may have conducted a national search but ultimately picked someone from their own back yard — and alumni roster — to be the new Vice President for Business Affairs. A media release Tuesday announces the appointment of Janet Kobylski, a lifelong Wyoming Valley resident and King’s graduate.

Kobylski has spent 10 years working at crosstown rival Wilkes University, most recently as associate vice president of finance and treasurer. She has also worked there as interim vice president of finance and assistant vice president of finance and treasurer. Before joining Wilkes she had jobs with public corporations and private equity companies, according to the King’s release.

Kobylski is a licensed member of both the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public accountants, and is affiliated with several professional associations including the Eastern and National Associations of College and University Business Officers.

Kobylski is replacing John Loyack, who left King’s to become the seventh president of Alvernia University in Reading. Alvernia’s website notes Loyack’s inauguration is scheduled for March 20.

Kobylski will also have the title of Chief Financial Officer at treasurer. The media release said she will “support the mission of the College through effective leadership, analysis and planning of college finances, business operations, information technology, human resources, auxiliary enterprises, and facility operations.”
