Fire Department to hold open house today
   
In conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, the Edwardsville Fire Department
will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Fire Department,
Main Street, Edwardsville.
   
Firefighters will be available to answer questions. There will also be
handouts and gifts for children.
   
FAIRMOUNT SPRINGS
   
Ham supper
   
A family style baked ham supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at
Faith United Methodist Church, Fairmount Springs.
   
Cost is $6/adults; $3/children 3-10 and free for children 2 and under.

Wyoming Seminary schedules open houses
   
Wyoming Seminary’s Lower School in Forty Fort has scheduled two events in
October for prospective families who want to learn more about the school’s
programs for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
   
On Monday, an Open House/Visitation Day will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 3
p.m. to give prospective students and their parents a chance to tour the
campus and visit classes.
   
Another program will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday to give additional
families a chance to visit the school. Parents and students can meet the new
Lower School Dean John Burbank, and learn more about the school’s academic,
arts, activities and athletic programs. Teachers will be on hand to answer
questions and tours will be held.

Leaf collection will begin Oct. 21
   
All residents of Forty Fort Borough are advised that fall leaf pick up will
begin Monday, Oct. 21 and continue until Friday, Dec. 6.
   
Leaves must be placed in bags and weigh less than 30 pounds.
   
Tree limbs or garbage will be not be accepted. Residents are also warned
not to rake leaves into the roadway.

Hanover Area class of 1977 will hold a reunion meeting at 6 p.m. Sunday at
the Riverside Cafe, Old River Road, Wilkes-Barre.

Grief workshop series offered
   
A workshop series entitled “Human Loss and Grief: The Dynamics of Grief and
Bereavement” will be held by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of
Wyoming Valley on Sundays, Oct. 13, Nov. 3 and Dec. 15. The workshops will be
held from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at the Wyoming Valley Montessori School, Kingston.
   
The Rev. George Williams, grief counselor, will facilitate the workshops.

Tuesday evening
   
K.M. Smith Elementary School PTA will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the
cafeteria of the John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke.

Firefighters announce service, open house
   
In closing observance of Fire Prevention Week, a memorial service for all
deceased Nanticoke firefighters will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday in First United
Methodist Church, Nanticoke.
   
The Rev. James Carroll, church pastor and chaplain of the Nanticoke Fire
Department, will officiate.
   
Also, an open house will be held from noon to 4 p.m. today at fire
headquarters, corner of Ridge and Market Streets.
