BAY CITY, Mich. - Josephine “Josie” Ondish passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2013 in Bay City, Mich.


She was born on Jan. 10, 1927, in Pittston to the late Giuseppe and Melchiora (Provenzano) Mantione. She attended Pittston High School and graduated in 1944. She was a retired garment worker and a member of the ILGWU. She was a member of the former St. Rocco’s Church in Pittston.


She married Andrew Ondish of Swoyersville in 1958.


Surviving are her two children, Andrea Ondish of Bay City, Mich., and Andrew (Michele) Ondish of Shavertown; grandchildren, Andrew, of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Nicholas and Jacob, of Shavertown; sister Lucy Murtha, of West Pittston; and brother Charles (Betty) Montione, of Pittston; many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Andrew; brothers Vincent Mantione, Anthony Mantione, Antonio Richard Montione, Salvatore Agustus Mantione; sisters Onofria (Nellie) Mantione, Christina Rose Mantione and Mary Ferrara; niece Lucie Jo Murtha.


Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston.


A memorial Mass will be said in her name on Friday, Nov. 22, 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston.
