The annual sixth-grade academic awards program at Dr. Kistler Elementary School, Wilkes-Barre Area School District, was held in the school’s large group instruction area. Administered by The Luzerne Foundation, Dr. David W. Kistler established a scholarship fund in his name beginning with the 1997-98 academic year. Any sixth grade student who has earned the Presidential Academic Award may apply. The criteria for this prestigious scholarship are based on academic achievement, teacher recommendation, good citizenship and economic need.
