James and Barbara Kaminski, Hanover Township, are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today, June 1, 2014. They were married at the Free Methodist Church, Nescopeck, on June 1, 1974. The Rev. Lee D. Gangaware officiated the double-ring ceremony.
Barbara is the daughter of the late Selden Gangaware and the late Joan Eisenhower. She began her career as a nursing assistant at Hampton House, Hanover Township. For the past 26 years, she has worked for Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
James is the son of the late Stephen and Catherine Kaminski. He retired from the State Correctional Institution, Dallas, in 2008. He began his career as a corrections officer and later became a counselor. He currently works for Home Depot, Wilkes-Barre.
James has two sons, Jim, Willow Grove, and Scott, Wilkes-Barre. Barbara and James have two daughters, Erica Walker, Kingston, and Andrea Viti, Hanover Township. Recently, the couple has welcomed two sons-in-law to their family, Christopher Walker and Timothy Viti.
A family dinner at Fire and Ice, Shavertown, marked the occasion. The couple was surprised with a trip to Arizona given by their daughters and sons-in-law.
