Elmer (Tug) and Edith Weaver, Dover N.J., will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Sept. 3, 2013. Both were born and raised in the Dallas, Pa., area and attended Dallas High School.
Elmer is a World War II veteran serving in the Navy from 1942-1945 as an aviation machinist’s mate second class.
The couple were married on Sept. 3, 1943, in East Dallas, Pa.
They moved to Dover, N.J., in 1952, where they raised their children.
Mrs. Weaver is the former Edith Nafus, daughter of the late William Edward and Myrtle Nafus.
Mr. Weaver is the son of the late Aubrey and Lucy Weaver.
The couple has four children, Eileen Harris and her husband, Jim, Dover, N.J.; Louise Cole and her husband, Tom, Dover N.J.; Bill and his wife, Vicki, Shavertown, Pa.; and Audrey Bozzi, Dover, N.J.
They have seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The couple celebrated their anniversary at a family picnic with their children and families on Aug. 24 in Kenvil, N.J.
