(AP) A Pennsylvania man who killed his estranged wife and two others has been ordered to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Kevin Matthew Cleeves apologized to the families of his victims at Friday's sentencing after admitting he killed his wife, her new boyfriend and the man's mother.

Cleeves told the victims' families he understood why most of them hate him.

The 36-year-old Waynesboro man fatally shot his estranged wife Brandi and the other two victims outside a rural central Pennsylvania home in July. Cleeves fled with his 4-year-old daughter and was later captured in Ohio.

Family members told Franklin County Judge Shawn Meyers they weren't happy with the plea deal, and the great majority of them wanted to see prosecutors try for the death penalty.
