(AP) Hanley Ramirez was not in the Los Angeles Dodgers starting lineup for Game 6 of the NL championship series, hindered by a rib injury sustained when he was hit by a pitch in the series opener.

Jon Jay, slumping at the field and at the plate, was not in the St. Louis Cardinals' batting order Friday night. St. Louis leads the best-of-seven series 3-2.

Manager Don Mattingly had been optimistic a day earlier that Ramirez would be ready. Nick Punto was down to bat eighth and play shortstop for the Dodgers.

Shane Robinson got his first start of the postseason in place of Jay, batting seventh and playing center field.
