Pennsylvania Women’s Press Association will again offer its annual Teresa Spatara Scholarship of $1,500 to a print journalism major working toward a newspaper career.

Both men and women collegians may apply. Applicants should be Pennsylvania residents at a Pennsylvania college or university and classified as a junior, senior or graduate level student for the fall of 2012.

Those interested should request applications in time to complete and return them by April 22. Applications are available by writing to JoAnne Harrop, PWPA Scholarship Director, D.L. Clark Building, 503 Martindale St., Third Floor, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15212 or via email at jharrop@tribweb.com.

The association will select the winner on the basis of proven journalistic ability, dedication to journalism, plans to work at a newspaper and general merit. The presentation of the scholarship will be part of the association’s annual awards luncheon May 18 in Harrisburg.

PWPA sponsors this program to lend professional support to journalists of the future.
