Spring has arrived at the Dalton Community Library! This must mean it’s time for the Spring Book and Bake Sale. If it’s fiction you want, we’ve got it. Maybe you want non-fiction or a good mystery story, we’ve got it. How about young adult books, children’s books, paperbacks, magazines or recordings? We’ve got it all. Our Spring Book and Bake Sale is always the third Saturday in April, which this year is April 20. The sale begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Our volunteers have been busy preparing the huge selection for the big day. Everything is reasonably priced with many items for only 25¢, 50¢ and $1. The deals are certainly worth your time. And, while you’re looking for your favorite author or maybe a children’s book, you’ll be sure to smell the wonderful scent of homemade baked goods. Goodies such as chocolate chip cookies and homemade cakes are all being offered. Who can pass up the chance for some homemade comfort food? So, with books in one hand, goodies in the other and many smiling faces, you will be glad you stopped in the Dalton Community Library April 20.

A new activity that has begun this Spring is a young adult Bridge Club. This card game seems to be making a comeback. On Friday evenings from 6-8 p.m. our group of young adults gather to learn the rules and play a game of Bridge. It is guided by Dr. Stec who happens to be in our adult Bridge Club that meets Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. There’s plenty of skill, math and concentration involved while learning and playing. What a fun bunch we’ve got in attendance and everyone is doing well learning the game. If you’d like to know more about this young adult group or any new groups being created for young adults, please call the library at 563.2014.

At the Dalton Community Library, we have many programs offered throughout the month that many enjoy. Mah Jong, Bridge, Knitting, Crocheting, Children’s Lego Group and Preschool Story Hour are all on our schedule. The Preschool Story Hour has started again on Tuesday afternoons at 1 p.m. We read books, do crafts and sing a few songs that the children really enjoy. Please call us with any questions about these programs.

Also on Tuesday afternoons, our Kreative Kids group continues to meet after school from 4-5 p.m. Boys and girls have been busy solving riddles, painting beautiful watercolor and playing fun games. The group also worked on a Friendship Wall which helped us share how many of us are alike and how we are different. The Kreative Kids group is for kids in first through sixth grade. Join us for some sharing, smiles and laughs as we enjoy Kreative Kids.

And, finally, this month we are excited to provide two wonderful events to our community. On April 19, at 11 a.m. we are having a special reader visit our library. She will be sharing the lessons of the book “Three Cups.” She will also present poems, songs and a money rap song. It is sure to be a fun, educational program.

The other event is April 26 at 10:30 a.m. We are proud to present a Flow Circus. There may be juggling, there may be magic and maybe some balloon sculptures! Each Flow Circus is different, so you never know what to expect with this exciting program. Come enjoy a fascinating event that will have everyone smiling and clapping for sure.

The Dalton Community Library has so much going on this Spring. Please stop by or call 563.2014 to ask about programs that you may be interested in. We look forward to seeing you!
