Mr. John W. (Tuna) Ciecinski, 56, of Kunkle, died Saturday morning in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident
Born March 8, 1951, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Kovach) Ciecinski.
He attended the Wilkes-Barre city schools, and was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School.
He had been employed by Manchester Industries in the Hanover Industrial Estates, Hanover Township, as a truck driver. Previously, he had been employed by Pressed Steel, of Wilkes-Barre, as a machinist for several years.
John was a member of the Triangle Club, of Miners Mills, Harveys Lake American Legion Post 967 and Harvey’s Lake Rod and Gun Club.
An avid hunter and fisherman, John was remembered for his love of the outdoors and his caring for dogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Joseph and Ronnie.
Surviving are his son Joseph, of Wilkes-Barre; his beloved friend of many years, the former Maureen Elliott, of Wilkes-Barre; stepdaughters Michelle Phares, of Shavertown, and Gillian Davies, of Dallas; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., North Wilkes-Barre. Funeral services for John will be conducted at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Very Rev. James G. Hayer, pastor of Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, officiating.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be made in John’s memory to the Luzerne County S.P.C.A., Fox Hill Road, Plains Township, PA 18705.
