WILKES-BARRE — A Duryea man was arraigned Monday on allegations that he received nude photos from a 16-year-old girl.

Anthony Lamar Bishop, 31, faces charges of unlawful contact with a minor, sexual abuse of children and possession of child pornography after police say he engaged in conversations with a minor female starting back in August.

Officers received a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, generated by Facebook, of photos and videos being sent in Facebook Messenger from a minor female to a man by the name of Anthony Bishop. The photos and videos were sexually explicit in nature.

Investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were able to identify the sender of these materials as a 16-year-old female, who told investigators that she routinely communicated with Bishop through Facebook Messenger.

She stated that the communications became sexual at times and that Bishop would ask her to send naked videos and images, which she did upon his request. She also said that she knew Bishop and that he would give her rides home and they would smoke marijuana together. Bishop reportedly told the minor that she was prettier than his girlfriend.

Investigators made contact with Bishop at his home in Duryea on Friday, to which he said “I know what this is about.”

Bishop admitted to owning the Facebook account that was receiving the nude materials from the female, and that he was aware of her age. He also admitted to receiving the videos and pictures about three to four times before he stopped paying attention because he knew he was communicating with a minor female.

Bishop was arraigned in front of Judge Thomas Malloy in Wilkes-Barre, where he was unable to post bail set at $35,000. His preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 7.

Anthony Lamar Bishop is led out of District Judge Thomas Malloy’s office on Monday after being arraigned on child pornography and related charges for allegedly receiving nude videos from a 16-year-old girl.
