Crews can’t reach
    hunting cabin fire

A hunting cabin in Jackson Township burned to the ground on Monday night.
Emergency and fire crews couldn’t reach it because of weather conditions,
police said.

The cabin, located about a mile from the intersection of Hillside and Chase
roads, was unoccupied, said Scott Davis, a criminal investigator with the
Jackson Township Police Department.

Some firefighters traveled by foot to the cabin but they could not get
equipment to the site, Davis said.

Two city fire vehicles were involved in a collision Sunday night.

Deputy Chief Donald Fiorucci said the department’s command car and utility
vehicle were checking road conditions and going to various city fire stations
when the collision occurred at 6:30 p.m. on Pine Street. No one was injured.

Fiorucci said the command car was traveling behind the utility vehicle when
the command car tried to stop, then slid and turned, trying to avoid a
collision. The command car sustained right-rear damage. Fiorucci estimated the
damage to be a few hundred dollars.
