Joseph Martin

    Joseph P. Martin, of Frackville, died Thursday at St. Luke’s Pavilion,
Hazleton.
   
Born Dec. 2, 1909, in Corning, N.Y., he was the son of the late Paul and
Anna (Oshanick) Martin. He was employed as a tool crib maker at Parish Steel
and Dana Corporation, Reading. He was a member of Holy Ascension Orthodox
Church, Frackville. He was a founding member of the Altamont Fire Co. and was
a former justice of the peace in West Mahanoy Township for many years. He
served as secretary for the Board of Trustees, Ashland State Hospital, for
several years.
   
He was preceded in death by brothers, John, Andrew, Stephen and Michael;
and sisters, Mary Martin and Anna Buckley.
   
Surviving are his wife, the former Anna Pribulick; sons, the Rev. Joseph
Martin, Wilkes-Barre; Fred, Hawk Run; Melvin, Frackville; David, Harrisburg;
Paul, at home; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters,
Elizabeth Pribulick, Elmira, N.Y.; Susan Burke, New Jersey; nieces and
nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Nice-Hart Funeral
Home Inc., 9 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, with a Requiem Liturgy at 10:30 a.m.
at Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, with his son, the Rev. Joseph Martin and
the Revs. Paul Ropitsky and Barnabas Fravel, officiating. Interment will be in
the parish cemetery.
   
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today. A Parastas service will be at 6:30
p.m.
   
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Tikhon’s
Seminary, P.O. Box 130, South Canaan.
