Carole A. (O’Donnell) Zakrzewski, 62, of New Grant Street, Nanticoke, passed away, Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at Community Hospice, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born October 1, 1944, in Newark, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine O’Donnell.
After moving to Nanticoke, she was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Nanticoke and was a graduate of Nanticoke High School.
She was the self-proprietor of Carole’s Deli in Nanticoke for approximately 14 years, retiring in 1996.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Rita O’Donnell and Marie Novelli.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; sons, Joseph Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Nanticoke, and Thomas and his wife, Joelle, of Nanticoke; granddaughters, Jiana and Kaitlyn Zakrzewski; brothers, Patrick, of Williamsport, Joseph, of Nanticoke and Bernard, of Hanover Township; sisters, Loretta Urban, of New Jersey, Patricia Cherpak, of Wilkes-Barre and Alice Russamo, of New Jersey; nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Nanticoke. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 8 p.m.
