Anna (Blanchard) Lacomis, 92, of Avoca, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Highland Manor Nursing Facility in Exeter, where she was a resident.
Born in Duryea on July 9, 1916, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Blanchard. Anna was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, and its Christian Mothers.
She attended Duryea schools and was a member of the Avoca Senior Citizens Club. Anna lived a long, full life. Blessed with an enormous family, she lived each day deeply devoted to her children, her 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She will be best remembered for the time she took to create a wonderful sense of home, her kind spirit, and her gentle ways.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, who passed away in 1977; her brother, Joseph; and sisters, Dorothy Skurjunis, Catherine Doxbeck, Margaret Nevorsky and Ruth Griffin.
Surviving are Anna’s sons, Robert and his wife, Kay, of Venice, Fla.; John and his wife, Karen, of Endicott, N.Y., and Thomas, of Avoca; her brother, John Blanchard, of Duryea; grandchildren, Christine, Susan, Lynn, Amy, Marie, Pamela, Kristen, Mark, Justin, Ryan, Mathew and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Kara, Hannah, Olivia, Jack, Victoria, Jacob, Madison, Nathan Lacomis, and Nathan Gaul; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. from Kiesinger Funeral Services, 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with Mass of Christian Burial at noon at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont. Friends may call Saturday, from 9 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Highland Manor Nursing Facility Activities Department, 750 Scholley Ave., Exeter PA 18643.
