Sadie M. Ferrance celebrated her 95th birthday on March 20 by gathering with family at a local restaurant.
She was born and raised in the Wyoming Valley.
She has four children including her son Cyril and wife, Victoria, Throop; son Robert and his fiancé, Shelly, Askam; daughter Carolyn Czubek Lindeman, Miners Mills; and her late son Alex Jr. and his surviving wife, Joanie, Houston, Texas.
She is blessed with nine grandchildren, late Christopher; Robbie; Tabitha and husband, Phil; Todd and wife, Janey; Alcott; Stacy; Gabriel; Jeffrey; and Carrie. She also has eight beautiful great-grandchildren, Philip, Mollie, Katie, Corey, Alyssa, Courtney, John and Cam.
She enjoyed a wonderful 50 years with her husband, the late Alex Sr., who passed away in 1988.
Sadie has been a long-time member of the Wilkes-Barre Society of the Deaf, a member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Deaf Catholic Association and is one of the oldest surviving alumni of the former Scranton State School for the Deaf. She is an original tenant of the City Heights High Rise Apartments.
