With its annual Fall Concert on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m., the Marywood University/Community Wind Ensemble, directed by William Weber, will celebrate its 33rd anniversary. To honor some of the longtime community members, the Wind Ensemble will perform music requested by those members.
Clarinetist Kevin Madden, M.D. and tuba player Charles Mateer – both 20-year members of the group – requested “Chester Overture” by William Schuman. Corey Bartell, a six-year member, requested and will conduct “Pastime,” a baseball composition by Jack Stamp.
John Andrews, a percussionist and Marywood graduate, requested “Rhapsody for Winds and Percussion” by Rex Mitchell. Larry Lindner, a hornist and 33-year member requested “Triumphal March” from the movie “Quo Vadis” by Miklos Roza. Finally, Kathy Fallon, a clarinetist and original member, requested the “Finale” from Tchaikovsky 4th Symphony and “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Modeste Moussorgsky. Tickets are $5 and will be on sale at the Sette LaVerghetta Performing Arts Center on the night of the concert. For details, call 348-6268.
