Miss Jo Ann Heenan, 65, a resident of Hanover Township, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at her home.

Miss Heenan was born in Carbondale, a daughter of the late Joseph and Eleanor Stanton Heenan, and was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and Wilkes-Barre Business College. She had been employed at Pomeroy’s Department Store, Wilkes-Barre, for several years and later moved to Lake Worth, Fla., where she had been office manager for the Palm Beach Business College. She returned to this area in 1989 due to disability.

She had been a member of the former Memorial Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre, and had been a member of the church choir.

Surviving are her aunts, Margaretta Denn, Plains Township; Elsie Porter, Wilkes-Barre; and Dorothy Resseugie, South Gibson; and numerous cousins.

There will be no public calling hours or service, at her request. Donations, in her memory, may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 63 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

Arrangements are by the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
