Charges could be announced in the fatal shooting earlier this week of a Wayne State University police officer.

Maria Miller, spokeswoman for Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, says there will be a decision Friday on whether to charge a suspect in the death of Wayne State Officer Collin Rose. The 29-year-old officer was shot in the head while on patrol Tuesday and died a day later.

Detroit police say Rose was investigating possible thefts of navigation systems from vehicles near the campus and radioed that he was about to speak to someone on a bicycle. Officers arriving on the scene found Rose injured on the ground. He died Wednesday evening in a hospital.

Detroit police arrested a suspect late Tuesday night a few blocks from where Rose was shot.
